DE UNA
“DE UNA” is a typically Colombian expression that is difficult to
translate directly into English. It is very popular among friends and is
best defined as
“let’s go” or “right now”. You don’t have to think long about it; instead,
everything sounds so good that you don’t hesitate a minute. We called
our travel and tour agency DE UNA both because of the meaning of the
expression, which describes our tours very well, as well as due to the
fact that “de una” is a typically Colombian expression.
During our trips
to South America we were surprised that such an amazing and beautiful
place as Colombia is rarely visited by tourists. Colombia has all the
ingredients that are necessary for having a wonderful vacation. It is a
land of varied geographical extremes and an amazing diversity of flora
and fauna. With coastlines on both the Pacific and Atlantic oceans, the
desert of La Guajira in the northeast which extends into the Caribbean,
three Andean mountain ranges dissecting the country, Amazon, savannah
and rainforest plus assorted mountains and islands; Colombia offers an
environment to suit many tastes.
In contrast to other South American
countries, however, the absolute highlights of Colombia are not to be
found within its natural and geographical boundaries. Rather, here it is
the people that make the difference. If something should be said about
Colombians and Colombia, it is that everything here is done
passionately: living, partying and arguing. "Intense" might be a word
that describes not only 44 million warm hearted people but that also
applies to the whole experience of visiting Colombia.
Objective
DE UNA gives you the opportunity to really get to know Colombia. During
our tours we show you Colombia how it is, and we don’t just want
to visit the most beautiful sites but also encourage interaction with
the local population. Frequently during our tours you will find yourself
taking part in the local way of life. Our style of traveling, the
sites visited, the modes of transport and the places of accommodation
are
chosen in accordance with our philosophy of traveling mentioned above.
As guides we don’t just want to serve as “the guide” or as the person
who organizes and accompanies the tour. Instead, we also strive to be
active participants in making the travel experience of the group the
best in can be and provide the best information possible. We'll give
recommendations about good places to eat and drink locally, and we'll
advise about the best places to go out, to show you why we like Colombia
so much.
